Leather Rugs Care Guide

Leather rugs are suitable for all areas, including the most high-traffic areas of your home, because of the durable innate properties of the leather. Leather rugs are stain resistant and amazingly easy to care for and can last for many years without replacement.

1. SHAKING THE RUG
Go outside and shake the rug to remove dust. This is a very effective way to remove all surface particles from the rug.

2. VACUUM CLEANING
The easiest and most effective way to routinely care for your rug is to simply vacuum to remove dust and dirt from the surface.

3. STEAM CLEANING
Steam cleaning is a very popular way to occasionally give your rug a thorough cleaning and keep it looking as fresh and new as the day you bought it. Be sure to always vacuum the rug first for the most effective deep cleaning. Use the steam cleaner in the direction of the hair, being careful not to saturate the fibers too much. Afterwards, simply allow the the rug to air dry.

4. REMOVING GREASE STAINS
Grease stains on your rug? Do not worry! Start by gently scraping the grease off as best you can with a brush or something with hard bristles. We have found that a small amount of eucalyptus oil on the stain helps remove it. Simply apply a small amount of the oil and gently rub it off with a dry, clean cloth. If you are unable to remove the stain, contact a professional rug cleaning service that will remove the stain.

5. REMOVING FOOD STAINS FROM YOUR LEATHER RUG
Food stains can be easily removed from your leather rug by gently and carefully scraping with a brush or butter knife in the same direction as the rug fibers. If the stain is still visible, you can use a damp washcloth with a small amount of non-alkaline soap or water mixed with organic white organic vinegar to remove many deep food stains. Simply rub the area with the rug and dry with a towel or dry washcloth.

As you can see, cleaning and maintaining leather rugs is very easy, especially compared to other rugs, since it is a natural animal product. With simple and common sense cleaning methods, your leather rug will look as clean and fresh as the day it arrived at your home!
